GCK Mobility is specializes in green mobility solutions. This includes developing and integrating hydrogen/electric propulsion systems for vehicles, enabling environmentally friendly transportation options.

What problem did you solve?

I work in our pre-studies team, as part of our retrofit field. We focus on converting vehicles with petrol/diesel engines to electric/hydrogen powertrains. Before providing an offer for a vehicle retrofit, we must assess the technical feasibility in advance. To do this, we need to visit the customer facilities to record realistic vehicle duty cycles and understand how the vehicle works.

How did you solve it?

We use the CANedge1 (incl. GPS/IMU) and two contactless CAN readers to directly record data from the vehicle's J1939 CAN buses. This enables us to analyse all relevant parameters (engine, auxiliary etc), which permits us to define all electrical components according to the duty cycle. Attached pictures show an example project involving the Renault Trucks D Wide.
